BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848589 commit 98375b86 upstream. The syzbot fuzzer provoked a general protection fault in the hid-prodikeys driver: kasan: CONFIG_KASAN_INLINE enabled kasan: GPF could be caused by NULL-ptr deref or user memory access general protection fault: 0000 [#1] SMP KASAN CPU: 0 PID: 12 Comm: kworker/0:1 Not tainted 5.3.0-rc5+ #28 Hardware name: Google Google Compute Engine/Google Compute Engine, BIOS Google 01/01/2011 Workqueue: usb_hub_wq hub_event RIP: 0010:pcmidi_submit_output_report drivers/hid/hid-prodikeys.c:300 [inline] RIP: 0010:pcmidi_set_operational drivers/hid/hid-prodikeys.c:558 [inline] RIP: 0010:pcmidi_snd_initialise drivers/hid/hid-prodikeys.c:686 [inline] RIP: 0010:pk_probe+0xb51/0xfd0 drivers/hid/hid-prodikeys.c:836 Code: 0f 85 50 04 00 00 48 8b 04 24 4c 89 7d 10 48 8b 58 08 e8 b2 53 e4 fc 48 8b 54 24 20 48 b8 00 00 00 00 00 fc ff df 48 c1 ea 03 <80> 3c 02 00 0f 85 13 04 00 00 48 ba 00 00 00 00 00 fc ff df 49 8b The problem is caused by the fact that pcmidi_get_output_report() will return an error if the HID device doesn't provide the right sort of output report, but pcmidi_set_operational() doesn't bother to check the return code and assumes the function call always succeeds. This patch adds the missing check and aborts the probe operation if necessary. BugLink: https://launchpad.net/bugs/1847189 The Ubuntu Xenial backport of upstream commit 19b558db ("posix-timers: Protect posix clock array access against speculation") incorrectly dropped the NULL check on the .clock_getres function pointer. Readd the NULL check while still protecting against side-channel speculation attacks when indexing into the posix_clocks array to perform that NULL check. The NULL check protects against a denial of service (system crash) or possible arbitrary code execution that can be triggered by clock_gettime(10, 0), as pointed out by Vitaly Nikolenko. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1847118 When looking for a bit by number we make use of the cached result from the preceding lookup to speed up operation. Firstly we check if the requested pfn is within the cached zone and if not lookup the new zone. We then check if the offset for that pfn falls within the existing cached node. This happens regardless of whether the node is within the zone we are now scanning. With certain memory layouts it is possible for this to false trigger creating a temporary alias for the pfn to a different bit. This leads the hibernation code to free memory which it was never allocated with the expected fallout. Ensure the zone we are scanning matches the cached zone before considering the cached node. Deep thanks go to Andrea for many, many, many hours of hacking and testing that went into cornering this bug. The `ar_usb` field of `ath6kl_usb_pipe_usb_pipe` objects are initialized to point to the containing `ath6kl_usb` object according to endpoint descriptors read from the device side, as shown below in `ath6kl_usb_setup_pipe_resources`: for (i = 0; i < iface_desc->desc.bNumEndpoints; ++i) { endpoint = &iface_desc->endpoint[i].desc; // get the address from endpoint descriptor pipe_num = ath6kl_usb_get_logical_pipe_num(ar_usb, endpoint->bEndpointAddress, &urbcount); ...... // select the pipe object pipe = &ar_usb->pipes[pipe_num]; // initialize the ar_usb field pipe->ar_usb = ar_usb; } The driver assumes that the addresses reported in endpoint descriptors from device side to be complete. If a device is malicious and does not report complete addresses, it may trigger NULL-ptr-deref `ath6kl_usb_alloc_urb_from_pipe` and `ath6kl_usb_free_urb_to_pipe`. This patch fixes the bug by preventing potential NULL-ptr-deref (CVE-2019-15098). BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1844155 The sigaltstack(2) system call fails with -ENOMEM if the new alternative signal stack is found to be smaller than SIGMINSTKSZ. On architectures such as arm64, where the native value for SIGMINSTKSZ is larger than the compat value, this can result in an unexpected error being reported to a compat task. See, for example: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=904385 This patch fixes the problem by extending do_sigaltstack to take the minimum signal stack size as an additional parameter, allowing the native and compat system call entry code to pass in their respective values. COMPAT_SIGMINSTKSZ is just defined as SIGMINSTKSZ if it has not been defined by the architecture. Cc: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Cc: Dominik Brodowski <linux@dominikbrodowski.net> Cc: "Eric W. CVE-2017-18232 In commit 87c8331f ("[SCSI] libsas: prevent domain rediscovery competing with ata error handling") introduced disco mutex to prevent rediscovery competing with ata error handling and put the whole revalidation in the mutex. But the rphy add/remove needs to wait for the error handling which also grabs the disco mutex. This may leads to dead lock.So the probe and destruct event were introduce to do the rphy add/remove asynchronously and out of the lock. The asynchronously processed workers makes the whole discovery process not atomic, the other events may interrupt the process. For example, if a loss of signal event inserted before the probe event, the sas_deform_port() is called and the port will be deleted. And sas_port_delete() may run before the destruct event, but the port-x:x is the top parent of end device or expander. This leads to a kernel WARNING such as: [ 82.042979] sysfs group 'power' not found for kobject 'phy-1:0:22' [ 82.042983] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [ 82.042986] WARNING: CPU: 54 PID: 1714 at fs/sysfs/group.c:237 sysfs_remove_group+0x94/0xa0 [ 82.043059] Call trace: [ 82.043082] [<ffff0000082e7624>] sysfs_remove_group+0x94/0xa0 [ 82.043085] [<ffff00000864e320>] dpm_sysfs_remove+0x60/0x70 [ 82.043086] [<ffff00000863ee10>] device_del+0x138/0x308 [ 82.043089] [<ffff00000869a2d0>] sas_phy_delete+0x38/0x60 [ 82.043091] [<ffff00000869a86c>] do_sas_phy_delete+0x6c/0x80 [ 82.043093] [<ffff00000863dc20>] device_for_each_child+0x58/0xa0 [ 82.043095] [<ffff000008696f80>] sas_remove_children+0x40/0x50 [ 82.043100] [<ffff00000869d1bc>] sas_destruct_devices+0x64/0xa0 [ 82.043102] [<ffff0000080e93bc>] process_one_work+0x1fc/0x4b0 [ 82.043104] [<ffff0000080e96c0>] worker_thread+0x50/0x490 [ 82.043105] [<ffff0000080f0364>] kthread+0xfc/0x128 [ 82.043107] [<ffff0000080836c0>] ret_from_fork+0x10/0x50 Make probe and destruct a direct call in the disco and revalidate function, but put them outside the lock. The whole discovery or revalidate won't be interrupted by other events. And the DISCE_PROBE and DISCE_DESTRUCT event are deleted as a result of the direct call. Introduce a new list to destruct the sas_port and put the port delete after the destruct. This makes sure the right order of destroying the sysfs kobject and fix the warning above. In sas_ex_revalidate_domain() have a loop to find all broadcasted device, and sometimes we have a chance to find the same expander twice. Because the sas_port will be deleted at the end of the whole revalidate process, sas_port with the same name cannot be added before this. Otherwise the sysfs will complain of creating duplicate filename. Since the LLDD will send broadcast for every device change, we can only process one expander's revalidation. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1845405 [ Upstream commit 6efb971b ] When tcf_block_get() fails in sfb_init(), q->qdisc is still a NULL pointer which leads to a crash in sfb_destroy(). Similar for sch_dsmark. Instead of fixing each separately, Linus suggested to just accept NULL pointer in qdisc_put(), which would make callers easier.
