BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791942 commit 32852c56 upstream. If the device gets into a state where RXNEMP (RX FIFO not empty) interrupt is asserted without RXOK (new frame received successfully) interrupt being asserted, xcan_rx_poll() will continue to try to clear RXNEMP without actually reading frames from RX FIFO. If the RX FIFO is not empty, the interrupt will not be cleared and napi_schedule() will just be called again. This situation can occur when: (a) xcan_rx() returns without reading RX FIFO due to an error condition. The code tries to clear both RXOK and RXNEMP but RXNEMP will not clear due to a frame still being in the FIFO. The frame will never be read from the FIFO as RXOK is no longer set. (b) A frame is received between xcan_rx_poll() reading interrupt status and clearing RXOK. RXOK will be cleared, but RXNEMP will again remain set as the new message is still in the FIFO. I'm able to trigger case (b) by flooding the bus with frames under load. There does not seem to be any benefit in using both RXNEMP and RXOK in the way the driver does, and the polling example in the reference manual (UG585 v1.10 18.3.7 Read Messages from RxFIFO) also says that either RXOK or RXNEMP can be used for detecting incoming messages. Fix the issue and simplify the RX processing by only using RXNEMP without RXOK. Tested with the integrated CAN on Zynq-7000 SoC. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791942 commit 722e5f2b upstream. Commit 52cdbdd4 (driver core: correct device's shutdown order) introduced a regression by breaking device shutdown on some systems. Namely, the devices_kset_move_last() call in really_probe() added by that commit is a mistake as it may cause parents to follow children in the devices_kset list which then causes shutdown to fail. For example, if a device has children before really_probe() is called for it (which is not uncommon), that call will cause it to be reordered after the children in the devices_kset list and the ordering of that list will not reflect the correct device shutdown order any more. Also it causes the devices_kset list to be constantly reordered until all drivers have been probed which is totally pointless overhead in the majority of cases and it only covered an issue with system shutdown, while system-wide suspend/resume potentially had the same issue on the affected platforms (which was not covered). Moreover, the shutdown issue originally addressed by the change in really_probe() made by commit 52cdbdd4 is not present in 4.18-rc any more, since dra7 started to use the sdhci-omap driver which doesn't disable any regulators during shutdown, so the really_probe() part of commit 52cdbdd4 can be safely reverted. [The original issue was related to the omap_hsmmc driver used by dra7 previously.] For the above reasons, revert the really_probe() modifications made by commit 52cdbdd4. The other code changes made by commit 52cdbdd4 are useful and they need not be reverted. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791942 commit 4d644abf upstream. Commit 1b9ba000 ("Allow function drivers to pause control transfers") states that USB_GADGET_DELAYED_STATUS is only supported if data phase is 0 bytes. It seems that when the length is not 0 bytes, there is no need to explicitly delay the data stage since the transfer is not completed until the user responds. However, when the length is 0, there is no data stage and the transfer is finished once setup() returns, hence there is a need to explicitly delay completion. This manifests as the following bugs: Prior to 946ef68a ('Let setup() return USB_GADGET_DELAYED_STATUS'), when setup is 0 bytes, ffs would require user to queue a 0 byte request in order to clear setup state. However, that 0 byte request was actually not needed and would hang and cause errors in other setup requests. After the above commit, 0 byte setups work since the gadget now accepts empty queues to ep0 to clear the delay, but all other setups hang. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791942 [ Upstream commit a0496ef2 ] Per DCTCP RFC8257 (Section 3.2) the ACK reflecting the CE status change has to be sent immediately so the sender can respond quickly: """ When receiving packets, the CE codepoint MUST be processed as follows: 1. If the CE codepoint is not set and DCTCP.CE is true, set DCTCP.CE to false and send an immediate ACK. """ Previously DCTCP implementation may continue to delay the ACK. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791942 [ Upstream commit 27cde44a ] Currently when a DCTCP receiver delays an ACK and receive a data packet with a different CE mark from the previous one's, it sends two immediate ACKs acking previous and latest sequences respectly (for ECN accounting). Previously sending the first ACK may mark off the delayed ACK timer (tcp_event_ack_sent). This may subsequently prevent sending the second ACK to acknowledge the latest sequence (tcp_ack_snd_check). The culprit is that tcp_send_ack() assumes it always acknowleges the latest sequence, which is not true for the first special ACK. The fix is to not make the assumption in tcp_send_ack and check the actual ack sequence before cancelling the delayed ACK. Further it's safer to pass the ack sequence number as a local variable into tcp_send_ack routine, instead of intercepting tp->rcv_nxt to avoid future bugs like this. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791942 [ Upstream commit b0c05d0e ] Previously, when a data segment was sent an ACK was piggybacked on the data segment without generating a CA_EVENT_NON_DELAYED_ACK event to notify congestion control modules. So the DCTCP ca->delayed_ack_reserved flag could incorrectly stay set when in fact there were no delayed ACKs being reserved. This could result in sending a special ECN notification ACK that carries an older ACK sequence, when in fact there was no need for such an ACK. DCTCP keeps track of the delayed ACK status with its own separate state ca->delayed_ack_reserved. Previously it may accidentally cancel the delayed ACK without updating this field upon sending a special ACK that carries a older ACK sequence. This inconsistency would lead to DCTCP receiver never acknowledging the latest data until the sender times out and retry in some cases. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791942 [ Upstream commit 3dd1c9a1 ] The skb hash for locally generated ip[v6] fragments belonging to the same datagram can vary in several circumstances: * for connected UDP[v6] sockets, the first fragment get its hash via set_owner_w()/skb_set_hash_from_sk() * for unconnected IPv6 UDPv6 sockets, the first fragment can get its hash via ip6_make_flowlabel()/skb_get_hash_flowi6(), if auto_flowlabel is enabled For the following frags the hash is usually computed via skb_get_hash(). BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1793753 Fix a race between ip_set_dump_start() and ip_set_swap(). The race is as follows: * Without holding the ref lock, ip_set_swap() checks ref_netlink of the set and it is 0. * ip_set_dump_start() takes a reference on the set. * ip_set_swap() does the swap (even though it now has a non-zero reference count). * ip_set_dump_start() gets the set from ip_set_list again which is now a different set since it has been swapped. * ip_set_dump_start() calls __ip_set_put_netlink() and hits a BUG_ON due to the reference count being 0. BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1793753 This fix adds a new reference counter (ref_netlink) for the struct ip_set. The other reference counter (ref) can be swapped out by ip_set_swap and we need a separate counter to keep track of references for netlink events like dump. Using the same ref counter for dump causes a race condition which can be demonstrated by the following script: ipset create hash_ip1 hash:ip family inet hashsize 1024 maxelem 500000 \ counters ipset create hash_ip2 hash:ip family inet hashsize 300000 maxelem 500000 \ counters ipset create hash_ip3 hash:ip family inet hashsize 1024 maxelem 500000 \ counters ipset save & ipset swap hash_ip3 hash_ip2 ipset destroy hash_ip3 /* will crash the machine */ Swap will exchange the values of ref so destroy will see ref = 0 instead of ref = 1. With this fix in place swap will not succeed because ipset save still has ref_netlink on the set (ip_set_swap doesn't swap ref_netlink). When we are checking for the existence of ABI files, we will use the previous changelog stanza version as part of the lookup path. On backport kernels where we just copy the master kernel ABI, that ABI path will not have the same version as the backport kernel. We didn't catch this before because we didn't call the insertchanges rule for backports, which would call final-checks, and also because we changed the changelog to use the version from the master kernel. As we plan to change those two factors, we will start seeing check failures that we shouldn't. BugLink: http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1792044 Added memory barriers where they were missing to support multiple architectures, and removed redundant ones. As part of removing the redundant memory barriers and improving performance, we moved to more relaxed versions of memory barriers, as well as to the more relaxed version of writel - writel_relaxed, while maintaining correctness. BugLink: http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1792044 When ena_destroy_device() is called from ena_suspend(), the device is still reachable from the driver. Therefore, the driver can send a command to the device to free all resources. However, in all other cases of calling ena_destroy_device(), the device is potentially in an error state and unreachable from the driver. In these cases the driver must not send commands to the device. The current implementation does not request resource freeing from the device even when possible. We add the graceful parameter to ena_destroy_device() to enable resource freeing when possible, and use it in ena_suspend(). BugLink: http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1792044 The buffer length field in the ena rx descriptor is 16 bit, and the current driver passes a full page in each ena rx descriptor. When PAGE_SIZE equals 64kB or more, the buffer length field becomes zero. To solve this issue, limit the ena Rx descriptor to use 16kB even when allocating 64kB kernel pages. This change would not impact ena device functionality, as 16kB is still larger than maximum MTU. Signed-off-by: Netanel Belgazal <netanel@amazon.com> Signed-off-by: David S. BugLink: http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1792044 Code includes barrier() followed by writel(). writel() already has a barrier on some architectures like arm64. This ends up CPU observing two barriers back to back before executing the register write. Create a new wrapper function with relaxed write operator. BugLink: http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1792044 In rare cases, ena driver would reset and re-start the device, for example, in case of misbehaving application that causes transmit timeout The first step in the reset procedure is to stop the Tx traffic by calling ena_carrier_off(). After the driver have just started the device reset procedure, device happens to send an asynchronous notification (via AENQ) to the driver than there was a link change (to link-up state). This link change is mapped to a call to netif_carrier_on() which re-activates the Tx queues, violating the assumption of no tx traffic until device reset is completed, as the reset task might still be in the process of queues initialization, leading to an access to uninitialized memory.
