Most DT ARM machs require common clock providers initialized before timers. Currently, arch/arm machs use .init_time to call of_clk_init right before clocksource_of_init. This prevents to remove that callback and use the default one instead. This patch adds a call to of_clk_init() to the default .init_time callback for COMMON_CLK enabled machs to allow to remove custom callbacks where applicable. Current vt8500 board init calls of_clk_init() from vtwm_clk_init. To allow consolidation of DT driven .time_init, move of_clock_init() to a temporary .time_init callback that will be removed when arch-wide callback is available. With previous pmc_base parsing helper for vt8500 clock providers, we can also safely remove the call to vtwm_clk_init() and get rid of some includes. Currently, clock providers for vt8500 depend on machine_init providing pmc_base address before calling of_clk_init. With upcoming arch-wide .time_init calling of_clk_init, we should make clock providers independent of mach code. This adds a pmc_base parsing helper to current clock provider that gets called if there is no pmc_base set, yet. This converts sunxi clock providers to make use of it and get rid of the mach specific clk init call. As sunxi has a bunch of independent clk provider nodes, we hook current clock init to board compatible to make it called once. This fixes a regression for the Nomadik on the main system timers. The Nomadik seemed a bit slow and its heartbeat wasn't looking healthy. And it was not strange, because it has been connected to the 32768 Hz clock at boot, while being told by the clock driver that it was 2.4MHz. Actually connect the TIMCLK to 2.4MHz by default as this is what we want for nice scheduling, clocksource and clock event. Tegra's board file currently initializes clocks much earlier than those for most other ARM SoCs. The reason is: * The PMC HW block is involved in the path of some interrupts (i.e. it inverts, or not, the IRQ input pin dedicated to the PMIC). * So, that part of the PMC must be initialized early so that the IRQ polarity is correct. * The PMC initialization is currently monolithic, and the PMC has some clock inputs, so the init routine ends up calling of_clk_get_by_name(), and hence clocks must be set up early too. In order to defer clock initialization to the more typical location, split out the portions of tegra_pmc_init() that are truly IRQ-related into a separate tegra_pmc_init_irq(), which can be called from the machine descriptor's .init_irq() function, and defer the rest until the machine descriptor's .init_machine() function. Matt found that commit 27a7c642 ("partitions/efi: account for pmbr size in lba") caused his GPT formatted eMMC device not to boot. The reason is that this commit enforced Linux to always check the lesser of the whole disk or 2Tib for the pMBR size in LBA. While most disk partitioning tools out there create a pMBR with these characteristics, Microsoft does not, as it always sets the entry to the maximum 32-bit limitation - even though a drive may be smaller than that[1]. Loosen this check and only verify that the size is either the whole disk or 0xFFFFFFFF. No tool in its right mind would set it to any value other than these. The LRU list changes interacted badly with our nr_dentry_unused accounting, and even worse with the new DCACHE_LRU_LIST bit logic. This introduces helper functions to make sure everything follows the proper dcache d_lru list rules: the dentry cache is complicated by the fact that some of the hotpaths don't even want to look at the LRU list at all, and the fact that we use the same list entry in the dentry for both the LRU list and for our temporary shrinking lists when removing things from the LRU. The helper functions temporarily have some extra sanity checking for the flag bits that have to match the current LRU state of the dentry. We'll remove that before the final 3.12 release, but considering how easy it is to get wrong, this first cleanup version has some very particular sanity checking. When reading a single page with cifs_readpage(), we make a call to fscache_read_or_alloc_page() which once done, asynchronously calls the completion function cifs_readpage_from_fscache_complete(). This completion function unlocks the page once it has been populated from cache. The module then attempts to unlock the page a second time in cifs_readpage() which leads to warning messages. In case of a successful call to fscache_read_or_alloc_page() we should skip the second unlock_page() since this will be called by the cifs_readpage_from_fscache_complete() once the page has been populated by fscache. With the modifications to cifs_readpage_worker(), we will need to re-grab the page lock in cifs_write_begin().
