Claude Code reads CLAUDE.md. Claude Code does not read AGENTS.md. The request
for AGENTS.md support is issue 6235 in the claude-code tracker. The maintainers
closed the request on 2026-08-17 and gave two methods: a CLAUDE.md that imports
AGENTS.md, or a symlink.

Add the symlink. Claude Code then loads AGENTS.md at session start, and the
repository holds one guide for every agent. The symlink is 9 bytes and carries
no content of its own.

Remove CLAUDE.md from .gitignore. Git applies an ignore rule to an untracked
path only, so the rule has no effect once the symlink is tracked.

A Windows user needs Administrator rights or Developer Mode for a symlink. On
Windows, replace the symlink in your checkout with a file that holds the single
line "@AGENTS.md".
